FinTech 50 Funding 


FinTech50 Funding - from June 2018

European FinTechs listed on The FinTech50 2017 raised a total of $1.9bn since 1 June 2017.  This index will follow the funding for The 2018 FinTech50, Hall of Fame and Hot Ten companies. 

The 2017 grand total includes one of largest ever funding rounds ($250M) for a European FinTech Revolut, significant rounds for digital bank Monzo ($93M) and Hot Ten listed 10X Banking ($46M). Swedish e-commerce giant Klarna secured $225M private equity from Permira, in exchange for a 10% stake, as well as undisclosed rounds from Brightfolk and Visa. 2018 fundraisings include Hall of Fame listed eToro who secured $100M in March 2018 and N26 $160M in March from Tencent and Allianz X.

Median deal value for the 2017 list was $13.8M (across seed, early and later stage). Later stage median value at May 2018 stood at $36.75M. European median VC (later stage) deal size for 2017 was $15M. 

In April 2018, Digital Banking overtook Payments as the most funded area, with Revolut's $250M Series C round.
